Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside. Cut each apple into 1/2-inch thick slices, placing the slices on a paper towel. Use a second paper towel to gently press on the apples, removing as much excess moisture as possible—this helps the chocolate stick.
4 large Envy or Honeycrisp apples
  • With a knife, make a small slit at the bottom of each apple slice, then insert a bamboo stick. This pre-cut slit prevents the apple from cracking when inserting the stick.

  • Melt the chocolate wafers in a microwave-safe bowl according to package instructions. Dip each apple slice into the melted chocolate using a spoon or spatula to ensure it’s fully coated. Let any excess chocolate drip off, then place each apple on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all slices are coated, then refrigerate to allow the chocolate to harden.
1 bag Ghirardelli chocolate melting wafers*
  • While the apples chill, melt the white chocolate wafers according to the package directions. Drizzle the white chocolate over each apple slice once the initial layer has hardened.
⅓ cup Ghirardelli white chocolate melting wafers*
  • To prepare the caramel, add the melting caramels and heavy cream to a small saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously for 3-5 minutes until the caramel is smooth and ready to drizzle. Immediately drizzle over the apples.
½ cup Krafts Classic Melting Caramels, 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • Add your choice of toppings while the chocolate and caramel are still wet, then enjoy!
Mini M&Ms, Peanuts, Variety of Sprinkles, Mini chocolate chips, Twix Bar

Notes

  • Drying the Apples Completely: Pat the apple slices dry well. Any moisture on the apple can prevent the chocolate from adhering properly.
  • Inserting the Stick Safely: Use a knife to make a small slit before inserting the stick. This prevents cracking.
  • Melting Chocolate Slowly: Chocolate can burn easily, so heat it in short bursts in the microwave, stirring in between each round. This keeps it at the right consistency, making it easier to coat each apple slice without lumps or scorching.
  • Achieving Smooth Caramel: Melt the caramels with a tablespoon of heavy cream over low heat, stirring constantly. This combination keeps the caramel smooth and prevents it from hardening too quickly, allowing you to drizzle it neatly.
  • Creative Topping Combinations: Mix and match toppings to suit the occasion or your cravings.
  • Storing for Maximum Freshness: Keep the apple slices chilled to maintain that satisfying crunch.
