Frosting Ingredients:

Instructions

  • First, twist apart an Oreo cookie and cut the top half of the cookie in half to make bat wings. Press these wings into the white filling of the remaining cookie.

  • Take another Oreo, twist it apart, and use a small amount of the filling to attach two candy eyeballs to the bat. Place the top cookie back on and gently press to secure the wings. Repeat this process until you have 12 bat Oreos ready.

  • For the frosting, beat the butter in a large bowl on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes until smooth. Slowly add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, while mixing on low speed. After all the sugar is added, scrape the sides of the bowl, then add the cocoa powder and heavy cream. Mix on medium-high speed for about another minute until the frosting is creamy and well-blended. Transfer the frosting to a piping bag.
1 stick unsalted butter, 2 cups powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • To assemble the cupcakes, pipe the frosting onto each chocolate cupcake. Top each one with an Oreo bat and gently press it into the frosting. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Room Temperature Butter: Make sure the butter is at room temperature before starting the frosting. This helps it blend smoothly and gives the frosting a creamy texture.
  • Crumb-Free Cupcakes: If your cupcakes are a bit crumbly, chill them in the fridge for 15 minutes before frosting. This makes decorating easier.
  • Sturdy Wings: To avoid wings breaking, don’t cut them too thin. Keep them thick enough to hold their shape.
  • Extra Oreo Filling: Save any extra Oreo filling when twisting apart the cookies. You can use it to reinforce the bat faces or wings if needed.
  • Frosting Consistency: If your frosting feels too thick, add a tiny splash of heavy cream to thin it out.
  • Press Gently: When assembling the bats, be gentle with the cookies to prevent them from cracking. A light touch will do the trick.
