If you follow my straightforward instructions, you’ll be enjoying your peach cobbler in no time!

Preheat the Oven

First things first: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200ºC). This step is key to achieving the perfect golden crust on your cobbler.

Prepare the Peaches

In a bowl, toss your peeled and sliced peaches with ¼ cup of sugar and cinnamon. Once they’re all coated and smelling amazing, spread them out in a baking dish. Try to keep them in a single layer so every bite gets that sweet, cinnamon flavor.

Make sure everything is coated evenly.

Mix the Batter

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, ½ cup of sugar, milk, and melted butter until it’s smooth and creamy. This mixture is what makes the cobbler topping so rich and buttery.

Combine the Dry Ingredients

Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt into your wet mixture. Stir it all together until the batter is smooth and lump-free. It should be thick but still easy to spoon out. This batter will bake up into a soft, cake-like topping that’s perfect with the peaches.

Spoon the Batter Over the Peaches

Now, spoon that batter over your peaches. Don’t worry about making it perfect—leave some gaps so the juices can bubble up as it bakes. Those gaps will create little pockets of peachy goodness that make this cobbler irresistible.

Bake Until Golden and Bubbly

Pop the dish into your preheated oven and let it bake for 35 to 45 minutes. You’ll know it’s ready when the peach juices are bubbling up around the edges, and the top is golden brown. The smell alone will make your mouth water!

Serve with Ice Cream

Once it’s out of the oven, give the cobbler a few minutes to cool down a bit. Then, scoop it into bowls and top it with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The combination of warm cobbler and cold ice cream is pure comfort in a bowl – enjoy!

Recipe Notes and Expert Tips

  • Use Ripe Peaches: The riper the peaches, the sweeter and juicier your cobbler will be. If your peaches are underripe, let them sit out for a day or two before using.
  • Frozen or Canned Peaches Work Too: If fresh peaches aren’t in season, you can totally use frozen or canned ones. Just make sure they’re drained well.
  • Spice Things Up: For a little extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg or ginger along with the cinnamon.
  • Crispy Topping Tip: For a little extra crunch, sprinkle some sugar over the batter before baking.
  • Butter Substitutes: If you need to go dairy-free, you can swap out the butter for margarine or a plant-based alternative.
  • Thicker Juices: If your peaches are extra juicy, mix in a tablespoon of cornstarch before adding the sugar and cinnamon. This will help thicken the juices as they bake.
  • Don’t Overbake: Keep an eye on the cobbler towards the end of baking. If the top is getting too dark before it’s fully cooked, cover it loosely with foil.

How to Store Leftover Peach Cobbler

Got leftovers? Just cover the dish with plastic wrap or transfer the cobbler to an airtight container. It’ll keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.

To reheat, you can pop individual servings in the microwave or warm up the whole dish in the oven at 350°F (175ºC) for about 15 minutes.

Freezing: While fresh is best, you can freeze peach cobbler if you have to. Let it cool completely, then wrap it tightly in foil and freeze for up to 2 months.

Thaw it in the fridge overnight and reheat in the oven before serving. Just know that the topping may be a little softer after freezing.

What to Serve With Peach Cobbler

Peach cobbler is a classic, and it pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. But don’t stop there—try it with whipped cream or even a dollop of Greek yogurt for something a little different.

You can also sprinkle some chopped nuts or drizzle a little caramel on top to take it to the next level.
