I make this for weeknight dinners, game day spreads, and potlucks when I want a hearty, cheesy dish that satisfies everyone without any fuss. It’s also one of the best ways to use leftover rotisserie chicken, and the air fryer gets it golden and bubbly much faster than the oven. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days or can be frozen, making it perfect for meal prepping ahead.

Here’s exactly how I make it, step by step, so yours turns out perfectly the first time.

Cook the Pasta

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook your short pasta until al dente. You want it just cooked through with a little bite left since it’ll continue cooking in the air fryer. Drain it well with a pasta strainer and set it aside while you prep everything else.

Mix the Casserole Filling

In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, shredded cooked chicken, cream of chicken soup, Greek yogurt, ranch seasoning mix, and half of the crumbled bacon. Pre-shredded rotisserie chicken works especially great here.

Mix everything together until well incorporated and evenly coated. The Greek yogurt and cream of chicken soup create that thick, creamy base that holds the whole casserole together beautifully.

Assemble in the Air Fryer Dish

Lightly grease an air fryer-safe baking dish with nonstick cooking spray, then transfer the chicken mixture into it and spread it out evenly. I use a ceramic casserole dish because it’s durable, elegant, and bakes evenly.

Top with the shredded cheddar and mozzarella. The two-cheese combo melts together into the gooey, golden layer that makes every scoop so satisfying. For the best melt, I like to shred them fresh using a box grater.

Air Fry Until Hot and Bubbly

Bake in the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the shredded cheese is melted and golden brown on top.

Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 12–15 minutes, until hot, bubbly, and the cheese is melted and golden.

Wearing your oven mitts, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 3 to 5 minutes before serving so everything has a chance to set slightly.

Add the Toppings and Serve

Sprinkle the remaining bacon bits and crushed potato chips over the top right before serving so the chips stay as crispy as possible. That crunchy, salty topping is what makes this casserole stand out from every other weeknight dinner in the lineup.

Serve and enjoy!

If you’re bringing Air Fryer Bacon Ranch Chicken Casserole to a potluck or family gathering, pack the crushed potato chips and remaining cooked bacon separately and add them right before serving so they stay crispy.

Cover the entire casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil and wrap it in a thick kitchen towel to hold the heat during transport. If you have an insulated casserole carrier, that’s the easiest way to keep it at a safe temperature for up to an hour.

Air Fryer Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole

Air Fryer Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole is my kind of dinner, creamy, cheesy, indulgent, and so much easier to make than it looks. Shredded chicken, crispy bacon, ranch seasoning, and two kinds of melty cheese all topped with crunchy crushed potato chips that add the most incredible crunch with every single scoop. I love making it for weeknight family dinners, game day gatherings, and potlucks because it feeds a crowd beautifully without dirtying every pan in the kitchen. The air fryer gets the whole thing hot, bubbly, and golden so much faster than the oven. Store leftovers covered in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months.

Notes

Here are my best tips for making Air Fryer Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole come out perfectly every time.
Cook pasta al dente: Pull the pasta off the heat while it still has a slight bite, since it’ll finish cooking in the air fryer, and you don’t want it to go mushy in the casserole.
Use rotisserie chicken: Pre-shredded rotisserie chicken saves you a step and adds a ton of flavor to the filling without any extra work.
Don’t skip the rest time: Letting the casserole sit for 3 to 5 minutes after air frying gives the filling time to set slightly so it scoops cleanly instead of running everywhere.
Add chips right before serving: Sprinkle the crushed potato chips on at the very last minute, so they stay crispy and crunchy rather than getting soggy from the heat.
Store properly: Let the casserole cool to room temp, then transfer individual servings to airtight containers and chill in the fridge for up to 3 days. Skip any toppings until ready to serve. To freeze, use freezer-safe containers and keep in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Reheat wisely: Pop leftovers back in the air fryer at 325°F for a few minutes to restore that bubbly, golden texture the microwave alone can’t quite replicate. The oven method works, too. If frozen, thaw in the fridge overnight before reheating.

How to Store Leftovers

Let the casserole cool completely before transferring leftovers into an airtight container and storing in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheat individual portions in the air fryer or the whole dish in the oven to bring back some of that cheesy, bubbly texture, or use the microwave for a quicker option.

For longer storage, freeze portions in a freezer container for up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before reheating, and hold off on adding the potato chip topping until after you’ve reheated it so it doesn’t go soggy.

What to Serve With Air Fryer Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole

Since it’s rich and creamy, something fresh and light on the side balances it out really well. Roasted broccoli, bell peppers, or steamed green beans all work beautifully alongside it without competing with those bold ranch and bacon flavors.

If you want to round out the meal a little more, garlic bread or dinner rolls are always a hit for scooping up all that cheesy filling. A cold glass of lemonade or iced tea on the side keeps everything feeling fresh and easy.
