These sliders are super easy to put together if you follow my step-by-step instructions below.

Prep the Rolls and Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Using a large serated knife, carefully slice the Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, trying to keep them all connected, and place the bottom half into the prepared dish.

Add the Mayo, Ham, and Cheese

Spread a layer of mayonnaise across the bottom half of the slider buns. Add an even layer of sliced honey ham (you could use your favorite deli ham if you prefer), followed by slices of Swiss cheese.

Follow with the slices of Swiss cheese.

Spread a little more mayo on the inside of the top half of the rolls and place it over the fillings.

Make the Buttery Glaze

In a small pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the Dijon mustard, brown sugar, salt, and pepper into the melted butter until everything is fully combined and smooth.

Pour the butter mixture evenly over the top of the sliders, making sure to coat the tops of the rolls. Sprinkle the seasoning across the top for some added crunch and flavor.

Bake and Serve

Cover the dish tightly with foil, then bake for 12–15 minutes. This helps trap the heat and moisture so the sliders warm through evenly and the cheese melts without drying out the tops.

Once everything is hot and gooey, remove the foil and bake for another 2–3 minutes to let the tops of the rolls turn golden and slightly crisp. That final bake gives you that irresistible contrast—soft, melty filling on the inside and lightly toasted tops on the outside.

Let them cool slightly before serving so they hold together better. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes and Expert Tips

I’ve made these sliders enough times to know the ways that make them turn out just right:

  • Use a large serrated knife to slice the rolls: It’s the easiest way to get a clean cut without tearing or squishing them.
  • Spread the mayo all the way to the edges: This helps keep the sliders moist and flavorful with every bite.
  • Layer cheese on top of the ham: The cheese melts more evenly this way and helps everything stick together, making the sliders easier to slice and serve without everything sliding out.
  • Substitutes: You can use your any melting cheese. Cheddar cheese, pepper jack, or colby jack. Sub out the meat with roast beef, turkey,
  • Pour the glaze slowly and evenly: If you pour too quickly, the glaze can pool in some areas while skipping others, which means some sliders end up soggy and others barely get any flavor.
  • Switch up the topping if you like: Everything bagel seasoning is great, but sesame or poppy seeds also work.
  • Let them rest a few minutes after baking: Giving the sliders a short rest helps the cheese set slightly and the layers settle, so they hold together better when you slice and serve.
  • Keep the foil on for the first bake: It keeps the tops from over-browning while the sliders warm through.

How to Store Leftovers

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. To reheat, just pop them in the oven at 350°F until warmed through—you can also cover them with foil to keep the tops from drying out.

These sliders also freeze well. Wrap them tightly in foil, plastic wrap, or store them in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, thaw them in the fridge overnight and reheat in the oven.

What to Serve With Ham and Swiss Sliders

These sliders go with just about anything. I like serving them with a crunchy green salad, potato chips, or roasted vegetables.

They’re also great alongside coleslaw, mac and cheese, or even a bowl of tomato soup if you want something cozy. They are versatile enough to serve as the main dish or to be included as part of a larger spread.
