Air Fryer Crab Rangoon
Air Fryer Crab Rangoon is the appetizer I make when I want my favorite takeout at home without the mess of deep frying. The wonton wrappers come out crispy and golden, and the inside is this warm, creamy, savory filling of cream cheese and crab that melts into every bite. Dip them in sweet chili sauce and one batch is never enough.

I make these for game day, dinner parties, and Asian-inspired spreads when I want a crowd-pleasing appetizer nobody can get enough of. They come together quickly and freeze well before cooking, which makes them perfect for making ahead. Best enjoyed hot, but leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat beautifully in the air fryer.

Here’s how to make homemade crab rangoons that turn out incredibly crispy even without deep-frying.
Mix the Creamy Crab Filling
In a medium prep bowl, combine the cream cheese, chopped imitation crab meat, garlic powder, sliced green onions, and salt. Fresh crab meat works beautifully here too if you want to splurge. I use herb scissors to quickly snip and prep the green onions.
Mix until everything is smooth and well blended. You want the crab and cream cheese mixture to be evenly combined so every rangoon has that same creamy, savory bite.
Fill and Fold the Crab Wontons
Place a wonton wrapper on a cutting board or a clean, flat surface and wet the edges with a little warm water using your fingertip or a pastry brush. Spoon about 2 teaspoons of crab mixture into the center.
Bring two opposite corners together and press to seal, then bring the remaining last corners up to meet in the center. Pinch all the seams firmly so the filling doesn’t leak out during cooking. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling. Egg roll wrappers work just as well here if that’s what you have on hand.

Air Fry Until Golden Brown
Line your air fryer basket with parchment paper that has holes or a silicone air fryer liner with raised ridges for airflow, or lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
Arrange the rangoons in a single layer with space between each one so the hot air can circulate. Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, or until crisp and golden brown. Watch the cook time closely to avoid overcooking. No flipping needed.

Serve and Garnish
Remove the air-fried wontons from the basket and serve warm with a small bowl of your favorite dipping sauce. Garnish with extra green onions if you’d like a fresh finish. Enjoy!
Air Fryer Crab Rangoon travels well for potlucks, parties, and gatherings as long as you plan ahead. Let them cool slightly after cooking so they don’t steam inside a container and lose their crunch.
Arrange them in a single layer in a shallow airtight container lined with paper towels to absorb any excess moisture. If you’re heading somewhere nearby, keep the container loosely covered so air can still circulate.
Transport them in an insulated food carrier if you want to hold in the heat. Pack your dipping sauces in sealed mini mason jars and any garnishes separately.

How to Store Leftovers
Let the crab rangoon cool completely before storing. Transfer them to an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them back in the air fryer or oven for a few minutes until they’re warmed through and crispy again.
For longer storage, freeze them in a single layer on a freezer-safe baking sheet first until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag or container for up to 2 months. Reheat straight from frozen in the air fryer at 350°F for about 6 to 8 minutes.
What to Serve With Air Fryer Crab Rangoon
Sweet chili sauce is the classic pairing, and it works perfectly with the creamy, savory filling of the crispy wontons. Soy sauce with a splash of rice vinegar is another great option, and if you want to keep things simple, even a good duck sauce does the job.
Hot crab dip with worcestershire sauce takes it further up a notch. Serving a few dipping sauces side by side makes for a fun spread when you’ve got guests over.
If you’re building out a fuller appetizer table, they pair nicely with egg rolls, fried rice, or a light Asian-inspired cucumber salad. They also work well next to wonton soup if you want to do a Chinese takeout-style dinner night at home.
