Make the Bat Oreos

Start by twisting apart an Oreo. Cut the top cookie in half to create the bat wings. Gently press these wings into the white filling of the bottom cookie to form the bat body.

For the face, twist apart another Oreo and use a small amount of the filling to stick two candy eyeballs onto the bat’s head.

Recipe Notes and Expert Tips

As easy as these cupcakes are, it’s always good to have some helpful tips, and here are some for you.

  • Room Temperature Butter: Make sure the butter is at room temperature before starting the frosting. This helps it blend smoothly and gives the frosting a creamy texture.
  • Crumb-Free Cupcakes: If your cupcakes are a bit crumbly, chill them in the fridge for 15 minutes before frosting. This makes decorating easier.
  • Sturdy Wings: To avoid wings breaking, don’t cut them too thin. Keep them thick enough to hold their shape.
  • Extra Oreo Filling: Save any extra Oreo filling when twisting apart the cookies. You can use it to reinforce the bat faces or wings if needed.
  • Frosting Consistency: If your frosting feels too thick, add a tiny splash of heavy cream to thin it out.
  • Press Gently: When assembling the bats, be gentle with the cookies to prevent them from cracking. A light touch will do the trick.

How to Store Leftover Bat Oreo Cupcakes

Store leftover cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. If you’d like to keep them longer, you can refrigerate them for up to five days.
